Diane, I think it conditions the water so less soap does more work. I am a big fan of chlorine bleach for its germ killing abilities. I always wash my dish cloths, dish towels and bath towels in it. I am in the process of selecting new bath towels. My DH suggested a dark green, however, when I explained my reasoning he thought the light sea foam green was a better choice.
I like to use "bar mop" dish towels. They are inexpensive, durable and generally white with an accent stripe. The old ones become my cleaning cloths.
