Here's my guess: One problem that I know of is that JFS isn't yet supported on the yaboot boot loader for PPC systems, but the SuSE installer (in SLES 9 at least) would let one install onto a root JFS anyway on a PPC machine, this would cause an unbootable system even though everything is there. It does work on lilo and grub on x86 as expected though, so no-one probably caught this bug for a little while.
