Maggi,
I find the same thing, and it occasionally happens while in a page also.
It seems Firefox occasionally loses focus, and I have to press Tab to
get the focus back. Sorry, I don't know why it happens either. There are
certain pages, such as Youtube, where it happens each time I first open
the page. Aside from that, I'm not sure what the common factor is. I got
used to it, and now it really doesn't bother me when it happens.

Hi Andre, Brad and all who have defaulted to FF over IE,
My IE was really getting on my nerves so with this list's help, I now
default to FF. Sometimes when I open a web page, FF just sits there and I
have to nudge it with a Tab, Shift Tab to get it in focus. Is there a work
around this or do I have to live with it? It seems minimal compared to the
issues I was having with IE, but still...
My best,
Maggi

Yeah, that's what I saw. It was confusing but another lister did a step by
step and I was able to uncheck use accelerated hardware. Thanks for chiming
back in.

It's a little confusing, because there are two Generals. There's a Combo
box that lists categories: General, tabs, Content, Applications, Privacy,
Security, Sync, and Advanced. If you select Advanced in this combo box,
then press the Tab Key, there are a series of Tabs that you can move between
with Control Tab. These tabs are: General tab, Data Choices tab, Network
tab, Updates tab, and Certificates tab. It is this General Tab that you
want. Note that I'm using Firefox version 29.0.1.
If you have an older version, some of these options may be slightly
different.

Sorry listers. Tried to send this to Brad Martin off list. Couldn't
get the insert 11 to pull up the to list as was recently discussed in
postings.
So bear with me.
To turn off Hardware Acceleration. Followed the steps in FF but
couldn't find the general tab. Did I miss something or is there a FF
trick to get
to
the general tab.
Thanks

Paul,
As one of the people who helped to create the original Program Share
for the IAAIS, I know a bit about it, although the new and improved
version does not have my hand in it. I would think IE would work with
it, although IE 11 has issues with a lot of sites. Firefox should be
a snap. Here are a couple of things to consider.
1. By default, Firefox will always save your downloads into the
downloads folder on your computer without prompting you for a save as
location. The advantage of this is that you will always know where
your files went when you grab them from the share. If you would like
to be prompted where to save the files you download from the share,
consider going to Tools, Options, and under the General options
(General in the combo box), tab until you hear "downloads" and select
the radio button to be prompted where to save the file.
2. If you like to make use of the JAWS cursor while on the Internet,
you will want to disable hardware acceleration. Again, Tools,
Options, Select Advanced from the combo Box, and then on the General
Tab, uncheck "Use Hardware Acceleration when available".
Hope that helps,
Brad Martin

Hello, I just installed the latest version of Mozilla Firefox on my
computer, at work. I did not make Firefox my default browser. I
needed to use Firefox on the IAAIS.org program share web site,
because it seems to work better than IE11. Are there things I should
do to make Firefox work best with Jaws 15.0? Is there a document
that lists settings that need to be changed? Thanks from Paul Stebbins.
