Amen. The documentation for JAWS is quite good, and FS is standing by to
answer questions by either e-mail or phone. If you call them, just know your
serial number, and you're in like Flynn. Just keep on tossing them, and we'll
all do the best we can.

Hello Judith,
Trying to navigate using Jaws is a never-ending learning curve, so much so,
they should call it a learning circle because that is how I feel sometimes.
If I have not forgotten how to do it because I have not done it for months,
they have changed the procedure. I doubt if anyone thinks you are stupid
because we have all been there, and are still learning ourselves. One
contributor to the list commented several months ago, on this subject, "The
only stupid question is the one that goes unasked."
Good luck in your learning adventure.
Cheers Kevin.

Accepted in the spirit you give it. I have been working on Jaws since 2,000
and was never totally trained. I can write anything you want, send a million
emails, look up most stuff on the web but can't shop for so much as a pretzel
and the rest, as they say, is Greek. Yesterday I set up a folder, finally, for
jaws. I know my questions sound insane because they probably are but I'm
trying to get my act together after muddling through for years.
I was fine with XP and got win 7 last year. Now it seems like I left my brain
in XP and don't know how to get it out. BTW, I'm probably not as stupid as I
come across on this list. Best, Judith

Please accept this question in the spirit I ask it; do you have a full set of
JAWS documentation? Settings Center is practically the heart of the program,
and is documented up one side and down the other--including how to get there.

Ted

I keep reading about the "setting center". I'm working on Jaws 15 and win 7.
Where do I find it? Thanks, Judith

hello there;

not sure but I think you can;

>
> go into,
> Setting center,
> Then going to,
> Speech and sound schemes,
> And you then need to go to, edit scheme, button, Now, shift+tab to
> general, Now right arrow until you hear; Misc tab.
here you should find the settings you want.

I'm glad just tabbing got the result you needed, but I want to be sure no one
else is confused by this.

Once you click on "voices," you are given two choices, which you locate by
arrowing up or down:

Voice Adjustment...
Select a Voice Profile...

Although the first option doesn't state "profile," when you press enter, you
land on the list of profiles in your system. Perhaps if you have only one
profile, this list isn't apparent. Otherwise, you select the desired profile by
arrowing up or down. You then tab from there to make changes.

Go into the JAWS context menu with JAWS key+j, press enter on options, then
arrow down to voices. Press enter again.

Here, select adjust voice profile, then select the relevant profile.

Start tabbing. You'll come across the setting you want.

Once selected, be sure to continue tabbing to OK, or possibly apply, then OK.
That's the part I can't remember.

Hello,

Can someone please maybe tell me how I setup my Jaws 15, so in word 2010 ,when
I am proof reading a document, when I come to a capital letter going character
by character, my Jaws 15 will automatically announce to me that this is a
capital letter? Any help with this would be so very much appreciated! Much
thanks in advance for any help I can maybe get with this.

Kindest regards,

Hank
