The problem probably is due to that, from the designers point of view, it isn't a right arrow, but the play button. They even tried to separate the left arrow from it to make it clearer (upper-right vs. lower left). However, user expectation seems to be not picking up on the subtly of the intention and we keep insisting on thinking of it as a right arrow as well. Probably because it is located amongst other navigation controls, not the "music/vcr" ones. I didn't notice the fact that it didn't have a tail like the left arrow for about 45 minutes - then it all clicked. Didn't stop me from continuing to try and use it as a right arrow, though. I'm not sure that it is a critical flaw but it certainly is a serious affordance issue.
In the album list: Is there some way to get a list of letters to scroll through like the web interface? Wouldn't want to have to scroll through all of the albums sequentionally so a way to jump to a different letter as a shortcut would really do the trick. I don't think that they need to be grouped into blocks of letters like the web UI (defult) does because it should be very quick to "roll" through them if they are displayed on the screen. A "soft" button (label on the screen/hardware button - a la Harmony/cell phones) would be the perfect way to indicate/activate this sort of thing. Not sure how to trigger it the way that it is but hopefully someone will be able to figure out a nifty way (or already has). Looks like there was an SC build failure last night so I can't update to the latest stuff so I'm holding off formally reporting anything. Twice putting it into the cradle has left the display on - all other times it has turned off - even when the screen dimming is set to never and the dim on charge unchecked. Out of the charger the dimming doesn't occur when set to never. On a related note: will the screen be damaged if NOT dimmed? I'm thinking of some sort of burn-in. If so, I'll stop trying to get it to stay on while in the base. The Screensavers don't seem to be activating, either. -- dwilliams01 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ dwilliams01's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10988 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=41772 _______________________________________________ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/jive
