It would appear that at some release of SqueezeCenter, it started storing its logs and the Jive firmware inside Documents and Settings\... whereas before it put them in Program Files\SqueezeCenter\...
I never knew about this change, so continued to look for them in the old location, and was always baffled why it appeared that nothing was being updated. But now I can see that all is well, and I do indeed have the latest Jive firmware.
