Got my Duet today and I'm having a little difficulty with my ideal
configuration. I should first explain my current network set-up (a bit
of a rehash of 'this thread'
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42981)):
Router 2 (Netgear WGT624) (WAN) ---> (LAN) Router 1 (Netgear WPN824)
(WAN) --> Cable Modem
Both of the arrows denote ethernet cabling and the two routers are set
to different 192.168.x.x subnets. The reason for this set-up is that
Router 1 is upstairs where I have the cable connection and a couple of
desktop PCs including the linux box ("zeus") running SC. Now the stereo
and SB3 is downstairs pretty much directly below Router 1 and the wifi
reception is fine (~70%). I was planning to test the Duet in the
kitchen where the wifi reception is very weak (my original Jive could
not connect there, my notebook could but only just). So, now I have a
cable running downstairs to Router 2 which provides excellent wifi
reception throughout the downstairs area.
OK, with that out of the way, here's the Duet challenge. If I sit in
the lounge-room and have the Jive controller connect to Router 1 I can
set up the SBR without a problem. The colour sequence on the front
during the setup is: flashing red -> amber -> green -> blue (while Jive
reconnects to the zeus SC) -> white. The problem arrives when I connect
the Jive to router 2. I had done this before receiving the Duet and it
worked fine, although I had to manually enter the IP address for the
Music Source for the SC machine. Once the Jive is connected to router 2
it can control the SB3 (which is still connected to router 1), but when
I then try to set up the Receiver, I have problems. The SBR colour
sequence is flashing red -> amber -> green -> blue and then the Jive
says that set-up has failed and gives the option of trying again or
skipping this step. Any thoughts as to how to configure the SBR with
this set-up would be appreciated. If I do choose skip, I can control
the SB3, but not the SBR.
