This is a bit different, maybe. Heck, it might not be related to the power save stuff since it was sitting in the cradle but it happened around the time we heard that that had been added and it was after a long idle period.
I did try powering down with the home button but it locked up on the goodbye screen. After about 10 minutes of waiting for it to turn off I pulled the battery and it restarted. There was no new update waiting (it had done that the evening before) and SC hadn't pulled down the new jive build yet (or something, still unclear how everything checks for updates but my controller usually prompts for updates mid day).
