Even odder. SC was up and doing fine with 2 players (1 wired, 1 wireless) and one computer seeing it.
The full normal set menu items were present on the controller - it was even displaying the album image of the last played album from the night before and reported the player as paused (which it wasn't at the time). The issue must have totally been on the controller's end since rebooting that corrected the issue. Also, as mentioned, it locked up during the shutdown sequence so I had to resort to a battery pull. Well, hope it doesn't happen again.
