While I certainly wouldn't want to discourage you speeding up anything,
it strikes me that artwork download may well be constrained by the
performance of the PC running SqueezeCenter and of the wireless
network, and you have no control over those factors.

I could easily imagine that no matter how clever your Jive and
SqueezeCenter code gets, a low end PC with an 11Mbs wireless setup will
never be a slick performer.

(Example: my server PC is  a 533MHz mini-ITX, and I have 54Mbs
wireless. Artwork download is usually fairly snappy but there are
certainly occasional pauses, which correlate with high CPU activity on
the server. The bottleneck is the server PC, not anything to do with
Slim Devices' code).
