Unsubstantiated rumors that have absolutely no basis in truth always
disappoint me too :) We have NEVER disabled features on desktop
squeezeplay in an effort to increase hardware sales. In fact, it's never
even been discussed, except in the silly self-feeding rumor mill that is
a component of all online product forums.

Here's what is true: we have very finite resources in our team and
desktop squeezeplay has never received the attention it needs to be a
viable product. Our engineering team has shrunk not grown in the last
year, enough so that desktop squeezeplay has been downgraded from "beta"
to "developer tool". I doubt you will hear any official announcement
about this, but squeezeplay on the desktop is not on our immediate
roadmap for support. My guess is that it will never be.

What mnyb writes about the history of the sync code is the accurate
account of how sync has worked/not worked for people in regards to
desktop squeezeplay. There has never been a deliberate effort to break
sync on desktop. We no longer have the resources to make promises of
support for it though.
