I have not had a chance to play with the very latest from CVS, but I do have a 
comment from a few days ago that I had not yet posted.  

I was very excited to try translucency, but when I applied it to (especially) 
spheres, 'translucent' did not seem all that different from 'regular' color.

so maybe I misunderstood its purpose.  I thought the utility of this feature 
was that one could see through the translucent object (at least somewhat).  am 
I incorrect?
