If the smaller value is used, the molecule will always be fully visible,
no matter how you change the applet size and the width/height ratio.

If the larger value is used, it depends on the proportions of the
molecule and the changed width/height ratio of the applet if the whole
molecule would still be visible. In many cases it would be nescessary to
adjust the zoom level to see everything again (including the risk of
changing the orientation accidentally too).
