Well, that is supposed to be a feature, not a bug.
Shift dbl-click does a 'reset'.
If people find it confusing (or useless) then we can remove/change it.
My personal opinion is that it is easy to mistakenly perform
Shift dbl-click (reset)
instead of
Shift dbl-click (left) mouse drag (translation)
If I am right in the latter.
However I think it might be wiser to focus on technical aspects of functionality for the moment, and when those are more or less sorted, review the mouse gesture thing. I'd be happy to take time to think about it and come up with some more considered suggestions.
By the same token, some of the HCI aspects of jmol could be addressed then. This is an area that interests/concerns me, and there are a few points that I think need addressing but I'd like to wait and then come up with considered suggestions. (One point is the lack of any indication to the user that he can invoke a pop-up menu. I'm not sure if there are any good precedents here. Another is the type face/size/weight - and background colour - of the 'atom tips'. )
