unidentified difference in some operating systems/java versions (don't know which yet).
Here it is in a nutshell. If anyone else wishes to investigate, feel free.
It appears that with some platforms, namely some Mac OS/Java versions, problems can result if
a) A page is opened and loads JmolApplet.jar from directory A. b) Another page is opened and loads a DIFFERENT JmolApplet.jar from directory B. c) The first page is returned to.
The observation is that then LiveConnect is dead. HTML-based controls on the original page are nonfunctional. The applet cannot be communicated with via JavaScript.
Obviously this is reason to consolidate your pages and have all loading the SAME JmolApplet.jar. But it would be good to know how widespread a problem this is. Three pages for testing, in case you are interested, include:

moveto_strange.htm and view.htm use the same JmolApplet.jar; moveto.htm uses a different one.
