We call that kind of thing a submarine sandwich in these parts but they are not that popular, most certainly not in the region of a hamburger or a chicken fried steak. My best friend Rosalie comes from Nebraska. She has told me of some differences in food. She said she was surprised to hear us refer to peas as English peas. They do not make the distinction there, they are just peas. We do, I suppose, because we eat blackeyed peas. She said they don't really eat them there much and I had another friend from Massachusetts. She said there they only use them for cow feed. Rosalie also says they don't eat okra. She hates it and refuses to eat it now.
