thanks Kate for saying much of what I wanted to say. (npimh: you're
damn right!) As a Canadian, it is frustrating to be gathered up into
the cloth of the US and everything that affects it.And yes, I do
realize that the majority of this list consists of 'americans' however,
there are borders beyond.
As a Canadian, I feel that I cannot speak to many of the issues raised
here with respect to American politics for a myriad of reasons.
That said, Id like to mention this: Canada / Canadians were deeply hurt
by the devastation on September 11th 2001. We still are. Today and
every day . there were Canadians affected directly and indirectly.
Anything that happens in the US of A is noticed by us, always has and I
suspect, always will. Many Canadians were somewhat surprised (offended)
when Mr. Bush did not acknowledge us in his address post Sept 11th
(the one Tony Blair attended).
Canadians are very much affected by the United States because of the
infiltration for lack of a better word in this moment.
Ive been in this country now for six weeks and am still amazed at how
Canada has mysteriously disappeared off the face of the US landscape.
Interesing indeed.
