Absolutely.  Everyone has a responsibility to be critical of events going on
around us.  I just think there is a difference between valid, truthful and
based-in-reality-and-fact criticism and just obvious outright bashing, which
is sometimes really hateful, whether it be blantantly expressed or more
nuanced (but the intent is still hateful).  There have been posts here that
maybe only I have been sensitive to, that leaned much more towards implying
by nuance that the U.S. deserved what it got on 9/11.  Criticize all you
want, I say, but I will not bow to that particular, specific sentiment.

I feel the same way.  USA is more appropriate.  But then we have that
gorgeous American the Beautiful song that I don't want to give up ;-)
