Sue,
I realize I risk being flamed here, but my personal experience with Jesse
Jackson and his wife have been somewhat less than pleasant. Admittedly,
I've only dealt with him / her personally on two occasions, and they were
ten years apart, so....
I believe he has an agenda which he will attempt to accomplish at nearly any
means. While I agree with his goals, I do not believe the ends justify the
means. I do not know if it is typical for him to threaten opposition with
personal violence [directed at the opposition], but I can verify it has
happened. My experience has led me to understand he has a public face and
quite a different set of rules for his personal life. I hope it was an
isolated and unusual situation, but I don't know. Maybe he just considered
it playing hard-ball, but to one who was threatened, it was very real and
personal.
As for Mrs. Jackson, she is a snob. That's the worse I can say about her.
I guess that's not so bad, because everyone has their points of vanity.
I've never dealt with her in a political arena.
I speak here of personal experience, not political leanings. Please
understand the difference! My experience made me feel not very surprised
about the baby announcement.
