VH-1 was recently airing a feature on them.  They absolutely were one of the
best groups of the 70s.  While I agree with your choices of the early
albums, some of the music on the later albums, like "One Step Closer" and
"Minute by Minute" with Michael MacDonald still give me the chills.  Another
example of some of the incredible music from just regular guys that came out
of Northern California back in the 60s-70s.  I never got to see them live
until '97 at a free Fourth of July party near Fisherman's Wharf in San
Francisco.  They were still pretty good, if not exactly the same.  Patrick
Simmons' gone gray long hair was a little disconcerting, too. ;-)  There is
a vinyl Doobies album that I picked up in the late 70s that has some of
their earliest stuff, outtakes and demos on it.  Do you have this one or
have you heard of it?  I've got it packed away but can easily dig it out if
you want more information.
