I"ve got to agree with you Jim. To put it very bluntly, President Bush is an
idiot when it comes to economics (and pretty much everything else.) I for
one would much rather see the money go to pay down the deficit - even if
they just take the retroactive amount, rather than sending everyone a check
in September. It may not be the way to get re-elected, but it's a better
long term strategy.
Went to a performance by the Boston Pops on Sunday night. They performed
Copland's Lincoln Portrait. Just listening to Lincoln's eloquent and
heartfelt words made me wonder whatever happened to statesmanship... and to
answer my own question, I think politicians listen too much to big business
and special interests rather than the guiding principles of the law of this
country.
