I'm listening to Shadows and Light, which I haven't heard in a long
time. What a great recording! The version here of Woodstock is really
striking. It sounds like it's just Joni on guitar and the band has taken
a break. I love that guitar twang and the pause when she sings about
stardust and being golden.
It seems so strange, though, to have this song included in such a jazzy
concert. And then I thought of other concert tours and am wondering if
she always includes Woodstock. Well, no, not on the BSN tour, but she
did sing it on the MOA tour and the tour with Dylan and also at the
Woodstock concert in 1998. How about on the WTRF tour? I'm wondering if
she sees Woodstock as her signature song, maybe one she prefers to BYT.
