dear marian,
you HAVE done something. you have let our international community know how
you feel about this horrendous incident and that is a lot. i am pasting
below a message i received from a dear friend of mine in boston:
''''This morning a gay friend of mine came up to me at the gym and told me
that he and his lover had been attacked by a group of 3 after leaving a bar
at 2am. As they headed towards their car, they decided to hold hands. At
that point they were assaulted (kicked, beaten and thrown to the ground).
It
happened at 2am in downtown Boston with the sidewalks flooded with people
and
the streets filled with cars bumper to bumper. It happened fast before
either of them could respond. It happened because they were gay. It
happened because they were holding hands. We know about Matthew Shepard.
We
know about James Byrd, Jr. . We know about hate crimes. But did you know it
was possible for a gay couple to be assaulted in the crowded streets of
Boston on a Saturday evening? I did not. I am shocked. I am disgusted.
And I hurt, because two friends of mine are bloody, bruised and banged up
because on a Saturday evening while walking to their car they decided to
hold
hands.
I'm still processing this and Im sure my friends will be processing
this
for a long time to come. If you are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered
BE
CAREFUL. BE PREPARED. If you are straight please take a moment and think
about my friends the next time you hold hands with a significant other.''''
dear marian, thank you for your feelings!!!!!

Asunto: Gay bashing in Belgrade NJC
I was very distressed to see on the news a terrible gay bashing incident in
Belgrade. There was a small gay pride march yesterday and a group of
hooligans split up their march and picked them off one by one, kicking them
and throwing rocks at them, while people cheered. This has to be one of the
worst things I have ever seen or heard about. I hope that no one died. I
wish there was something I could do.
