Seeing people being kicked and having rocks thrown at them - people with
blood all over them - was extremely upsetting to me.  The thugs/hooligans
were pro-Milosevic demonstrators whose march in Belgrade unfortunately
intersected with the small gay-pride march.  According to the reporter, the
people cheering at the sidelines were sitting in surrounding outdoor cafes.
I find this incident totally and utterly barbaric.  I have been under the
mistaken illusion that Europe was somehow more civilized and tolerant than
most of the rest of the world. I still wish there was something
constructive/proactive that I could do.
