I have had at least one discussion with my daughters about tolerance of
sexual orientation because they brought up how one of their friends had
teased another girlfriend about "loving girls". My daughters are only 7 and
9 years old and already they are being exposed to bigotry (!) which must be
coming from the parents or older siblings of the child who was doing the
teasing. My daughters go to an international school so they are learning
tolerance of other religions and cultures as part of their education. The
children they go to school with are from many different countires and
cultures. Although this type of tolerance is encouraged, tolerance of
anything to do with sexuality is a subject which is totally ignored. Most
religions are highly intolerant of anything outside of what is perceived as
"the norm". I am hopeful that I can raise my daughters to be tolerant. I
will try. I can see how it will not be easy, though.

and the world has lost a sensitive and gentle spirit.
