I've been experimenting with Gradle a bit lately as well, and I agree that it looks pretty interesting and has potential. I found the error messages lacking and the documentation and missing concrete examples frustrating, but those issues are mostly about the learning curve and not the quality of the software. To me, Groovy seems to me to be the right path forward in Java build systems - regardless of whether that ends up being Gradle, Gant or something yet-to-be-invented.

Personally, I would prefer just about anything to Maven.

Nope, none at all - I was just bringing it up for discussion to see if
people wanted to give it a go. I found it enjoyable and was thinking
others might as well.

Is there any urgency to change the current build system ?
