It varies, some boards do it even under xp, some boards that did it with xp don't do it with win7 and viseversa. There are a few variables we need to work out and possibly eliminate to solve this issue. The crackling/static sound is obvious. I've heard good things from folks that I've spoken to who use the saffire units, what problems have you had with them or heard of?
