Felip,
Sounds like you're at the very beginning of trying to understand an
e-commerce site's needs. I strongly suggest you read some literature on the
subject and look for a few books that can answer your questions in the
appropriate depth that they deserve.
Many e-commerce websites use nothing more than Perl CGI scripts to do the
work required, certainly nothing a JSP/servlet solution can't do better.
JSP and servlet support by ISPs is minimal these days, but that will be
changing as more ISPs embrace and support the technology. At the very
least, be sure to ask about it with every ISP you talk to spread awareness.
Look through the JSP faqs listed at the bottom of this email for information
concerning ISPs.
