The answer to your question is YES!!!
Java Servlet's/Applets and JSP are more than enough to build an E-commerce
sight.
Whatever service you get hooked up for with Credit Card info will have
whatever you need to verify credit cards. JDBC/XML for Database Access.
Have your sight hosted by someone with all of these services already in
place unless you are willing to assume the cost of creating them yourself.

Hi everybody,
My question is, do i have everything i need within the jsp and java
servlets and java beans technologies to build an e-commerce site?
I know I can track the sessions of my customers, I can set up an SSL
connection for the secure data (credit card information), but how i
verify this credit car info? is there any java package out there that
does that?
Will I have to host this e-commerce site at home or there are isp's
that provide all i need for that, i.e., a servlet engine, a jsp engine,
database support...
