Having just done some work with OSCache but never benchmarked
it, I'm curious to know if turning caching on or off has much
of an impact on RecentChangesPlugin. (I mean, yes of course,
but is it possible that OSCache is actually slowing down the
process when a call is made for page info that requires a
cache refresh, i.e. is it actually OSCache *at that moment*
that is causing the delay?)...

I think I also need to know how many attachments there are in the
www.jspwiki.org repository:
WikiEngine.getRecentChanges() looks at both pages and attachments:
........
public Collection getRecentChanges()
{
try
{
Collection pages = m_pageManager.getAllPages();
Collection atts = m_attachmentManager.getAllAttachments();
.............

Boundless wind and moon - the eye within eyes,
Inexhaustible heaven and earth - the light beyond light,
The willow dark, the flower bright - ten thousand houses,
Knock at any door - there's one who will respond.
