My Apple powerbook's internal airport KICKS BUTT.  Its the 11g vs b standard
but interoperates (g = 54mbs vs 11mbs).  It also reaches farther than any
other card I own.  I'm up stairs in a brick house at the furthest point from
my linksys hub.  I've got 2/4 bars and I can't really tell any difference in
browsing/email/ssh/cvs -- so no difference for me :-)
