Here are the significant points:
1) My email server, which I own and am in complete control of, is the Ability
Email Server from Code-Crafters.  I know for a fact that I have changed nothing
in its configuration for a very long time.
2) Prior to the most recent K9 update, both me and my wife were able to receive
and send email via K9 through my server just fine (IMAP, SSL/TLS, port 993 (in)
and 465 (out), authentication required on outbound, normal password).  After
the update we can still receive but cannot send.  I'm running Cyanogenmod 11
based on Android 4.4.4, she's running stock Android 4.4.2.
3) The stock email app on both phones continues to function just fine for both
of us. (We prefer the K9 interface and functionality.)

So, K9 is the only thing that has changed, and now K9 is the only email client
that won't work.  Doesn't that make it pretty obvious where the defect lies?
