It appears that your hotmail account has to be set up as "exchange",
rather than standard imap/pop in order to get mail push. K-9 does
support exchange as a setup option, but I don't know how K-9 handles
hotmail on the default setup, so you should check. You may need to
do a manual setup for your hotmail account(s).

There are no "K-9 servers". Your mail account credentials are stored
in the K-9 client on your mobile device, and the K-9 client
interacts directly with your configured mail provider's servers.
Make certain that you use appropriate locking/device encryption.
