It's a good point, and now I know about it I can find a lot of online
references to the Samsung Settings Button :-) It's odd that I never
noticed this before as I've had the phone for almost a year, but that
may be because I was using a custom ROM until recently and have now
reverted to standard. Anyway, my thanks to this forum for helping me end
a couple of hours of frustration.

To me given it happens on every app it feels like something Samsung should be
documenting.
That said it's may be worth having a 'device specific notes' section, even if
this didn't make the cut for that.
I'll open an issue against the website to remind me to do it.

I came across this post while trying to find the K9 menu button on my
Samsung S3 Mini. The same thing happens, there's no '3 dots' menu, you
have
to briefly press the bottom left button. I have K9 version5.010 &
Android
4.1.2 Same thing seems to be happening within the accounts. If this is
not
documented somewhere ( apologies if I missed it!), maybe worth putting
a
note about it somewhere?

Gary,
You've fixed it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well how simple is that ... Yes you were correct it has the S-pen
Thanks to all of the others for your help.
Very annoying really as all other apps I use just seem to work. Why
did
they adopt this other approach I wonder?
Yes I was right it has version 5.008 installed.
Thanks again.

The tab note 10.1 (2014) has a dedicated menu button; my wife has
one of
these. Apps don't display the 3-dot menu on this device because you
should
tap the left button (the one that is not the back button).
This is the device with an S-pen, right?
