DESCRIPTION

"Hey guys I hope you are all doing well.

I have a laptop, Lenovo legion 7a gen11 and I'm experiencing a persistent
volume bug. Specifically that no matter what I set the global system volume
from both the volume from the task tray or the settings menu it always stays at
max volume. Even if I slide it to 1%, 10%, 50% etc volume is always at max.

I can control the individual volume on YouTube for example through the YouTube
players volume controls in a browser, and individual app volumes if they
provide separate controls for them however global volume is always at max and
even browser/YouTube volume is based at max global volume so I have to turn
YouTube videos to 1% in the player to not risk damaging my speakers.

I have googled around and I've found people have been experiencing similar
issues but no solutions. I have tried to use external programs as suggested in
the past to adjust volume levels however they are both noneffective and made
the problems worse.

How do I know it's KDE plasma and nothing else?

-Volume worked perfectly fine on Windows. No bugs, distortions or issues at
all.
-I can adjust the volume on Ubuntu but I have the opposite issue with Gnome.
-I've tried various distros all with the KDE Plasma desktop: CachyOS, Kubuntu,
Bazzite and I would be wanting to try Nobara or Fedora too but at this point
i'm pretty convinced it's KDE Plasma DE and not the distro itself.

I'm currently using Ubuntu with Gnome because I won't have to worry about the
max volume damaging my speakers on there, however I hate the gnome interface. I
really want to use Linux for both the privacy and speed and control you have
over it, and I think KDE Plasma is a truly beautiful desktop environment
however with this issue it's not very usable at all.

I'd very much appreciate any help or advice. Thank you."

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Using a live CD and trying to change volume while in LiveCD environment.
2. Using an installed system on trying to change volume.

OBSERVED RESULT
Changing volume does not change the produced volume. Regardless what value the
volume slider is at master volume always stays at max. Applies to all
applications, system, media and browser.

EXPECTED RESULT
Changing volume through volume controls through volume applet or in the
settings will change the volume according to the displayed value. (Normal
volume controls that work).

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: CachyOS, Kubuntu, Bazzite.
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.3-1
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.28.0
Qt Version: 6.11.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I have found another person who is having the same problem I am on another
distro with KDE Plasma:
https://forum.endeavouros.com/t/volume-always-maxed-on-lenovo-yoga-pro-7-on-eos-kde-plasma-looking-for-help/76324

-I am not dual booting. Only running 1 OS on disk at a time.
-The issue persists regardless of Linux distro. A common factor is that it's
always on KDE Plasma
-Works fine when I had windows, all drivers were up to date.
-UEFI/BIOS is the latest version
-Prolong use at max volume would damage my speakers.
-Laptop has "Audio by HARMAN" label on it if that is any significance.
