Although not correct according to the S.I., "amperes" and "angstroms" are both commonly used as plurals in real world English. (Well, not that "angstroms" come up all that often in day to day life. :)) Either way, I think Postel's Law of "be conservative in what you do, be liberal in what you accept from others" comes into play here.
