2006/4/9, Werner Almesberger <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
I've started to play a bit with kicad (coming from "gschem" and
"pcb"), and there are a few things where I'd appreciate some
guidance:

How do I get out of the "Libs and Dir" window ? It has no "Cancel"
button, no window decorations (so there is no "Close" on the window
itself), and none of the buttons in the window seem to make it go
away. My work-around so far is to kill eeschema. Fortunately, the
changes are preserved, but this can't be right, can it ?

There is no close button but  you can close the windows  with the right -up cross in the control menu of the windows (I have tried on Kubuntu and on Win-XP).

In eeschem, how do I move the endpoint of a line ? Deleting and
drawing again does the trick, but it seems a bit heavy-handed.
Similarly, is there really no way to move things such that
connections are preserved, or have I just not found it yet ?

You can drag it, by creating a block (while the Ctrl-key is down),  around the  endpoint.

What's the best way to route SMT circuits in Pcbnew ? Changing the
grid all the time seems awkward and it's hard to get accurately
centered traces.

Personally I use a fine grid and changing the zoom with the mouse wheel while drawing the track, I find that  enough  user  friendly.

"Global AutoRouter" complains that it doesn't find "anneal". What
went wrong ?

Thanks,
- Werner

I have never used AutoRouter, sorry
