Hi Dick,

On the XP machine (ie the one I'm sitting at now ;)):

java version "1.6.0_11"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_11-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 11.0-b16, mixed mode, sharing)

Do you mean the Java Runtime Versions? If so I have 1.6.0_11,
1.6.0_07, and 1.5_0_06 enabled. I just went to the Sun website where
there's a JVM tester. It says "the latest version of the JRE is
installed and running correctly on your system".

Heh. Actually I have two Linux machines. One is dedicated to a
specific task and works pretty well. The other machine is my fourth
attempt at creating a usable, general purpose Linux PC. The various,
fundamental reasons why it was a failure are beyond the scope of this
mailing list, but since you mention it I will say this. I built the
machine with a new, paid-for copy of SuSE 9.0. Within a year SuSE had
removed *all* support for 9.0 from their website. Google virtually any
Windows problem and you'll find it's been answered on one forum or
another, and any necessary update files, no matter how ancient, will be
on ... the MS website.

Regards,

Robert.
