If you are bothering to use the error checking, you might as well correct the mistakes in the components. The GND pin of a 78xx regulator shouldn't be set to a type of "output". Instead it should be set to a type of "Power In". Connecting two power inputs together is obviously safe and will not generate errors. Best Regards, Brian.
