hi all. with tons of free, downloadable livecds out there with features i haven't dreamt of using, programs, i, an ordinary windows user havent heard b4 or find no use of, i'm thinking (yeah!) why not build a livecd pre-built with the usual application including (only) the latest openoffice word, calc and impress, firefox, ym from yahoo, xirc and chikka. must be networkable and with samba for file sharingit should load the selected progam into memory (vfs) to improve performance and unload if closed to reclaim resources and most importantly, can automount/dismount cdrom and floppy for easy to access or something like that. i dont think desktop theme is an issue so long as the program icons are there for click and run so it doesnt have to look like and feel like mswindows at all. i tried blackbox, fluxbox & twm. they are good, reliable and very small. (gnome and kde are terribly heavy). busybox for utilities. this should make the distribution light on the system as well.
but of cors hardware is an issue so it should run from at least 64mb or 128mb minimum ram in a early pentium class and celeron machines. this project (if well presented) will re-introduce linux to the entire community with a bang even to those who spit in your face b4 you can even say LIN--- pweeeh!!! pangita tug lain mailad. this will hopefully increase the number of linux users and decrease our dependence on microsoft. and i won't have to hide or close shop when somebody shouts 'ang microsoft gapang raid!!'. if possible, is this viable? pros? cons? group project? anyone? or maybe a contest who can come up with one first for a wreath of leaves. -- _______________________________________________ Search for products and services at: http://search.mail.com Powered by Outblaze
