This runs parallel to my shelved _personal project_ of a linux distro using
Ruby heavily instead of python.

To start it off, you have to review applications that would put into your
distro. And have to try applications and see if average users _can_ use it.

Be prepared for a daunting task.

i actually have my eyes on debian/knoppix with all its hardware detection

targetted not for developers/programmers but for the general users who dont
even know there are other applications aside from msword, excel, internet
explorer, mirc and yahoo messenger. And guess how many of them are there
in existince? basically everyone we know that are not programmers!
(including me oftentimes). but anyways, this is just thought. i figured it
would be nice if i can have a distro that is conveniently
presented according to my preference. i'm sure i'm not the only lazy bone

but seriously, if, for kicks, i go on with this project would you guys
help? also i need a mentor who is neither a big eater nor a heavy
drinker. kung mahilig ka chicks ok ra klasmeyt ta. any volunteer?

as for my qualification, if theres a taker, im not a programmer. i dont do
C, PHP, or any programming language that is required. i do a little
assembly w/c s required for my kind of interest in micro electronics. but is
im sure won't be much of a help on this project.

lisod ba? hehehe

That is basically what Ubuntu, UbuntuLite, and a swad of other Linux
distros are trying to achieve. However a lot of distros also tend to put a
lot into the distro (making them bloated) because they do not really have
enough inkling on what users need. Do take note that users _are_ picky, hard
to please, and have a lot of things on their mind when it comes to what they
want on their desktops and users have difficulty in identifying what they
_really_ need. So most distros put selected applications that will most
likely fill a niche or an itch that users would want.
