Yeah, I find the limited base selection to be a little turn-off for me. I
haven't had much time to tinker with linux-live scripts. However, I'd take a
look at it again once I get to finish DreamLinux and MKDistro.

Oh, and thanks for putting the link to it from one of your previous posts. I
want to build a custom live-cd distro that comes with
apache,php,fast-cgi,ruby, and rails pre-installed already. Wanted the GUI to
be light as possible so XFCE is the norm for me. And I think DreamLinux or
Morphix is a good base. The live-cd created will be some sort of a
ruby/rails demo on the go. Or perhaps even become a permanent distro. Who
knows. At least I have a goal :)

This looks very interesting. Though, not being able to select your own

Have you tried using linux-live scripts, if i may ask?

Although I am still in the process of finishing up my DreamLinux download,
it is pretty evident that the DreamLinux team has provided a very useful
tool specially to those wanting to make their own Linux live cd. The tool is
called MKDistro.

The only drawback to MKDistro is that you build your live-cd distro by
choosing either Morphix, Knoppix, or Mepis. That's it. However, MKDistro is
interactive and you can remaster your live-cd iso and make modifications to
your base distro. Up until I'd be able to get DreamLinux, I'll take a look
at MKDistro's features more in detail. If you want to check it out, you can
get it at the DreamLinux site. The basic MKDistro tutorial is at

My one cent.
