PKK SUPPORTERS' ATTACK ON REVOLUTIONARY PRISONERS
IS A SIGN OF WEAKNESS

For a long time the PKK supporters in Nevsehir Prison have prevented
revolutionary prisoners, who include a number of people wounded in the
(September 1999) Ulucanlar Prison attack and who stay in the same ward as
the PKK, from using the same facilities. Despite being warned about this on
numerous occasions, their provocative behaviour in attempting to place
restrictions continued. They tried to deny eight women prisoners from the
DHKP-C, TKP-ML (Communist Party of Turkey-Marxist-Leninist), TIKB (Union of
Revolutionary Communists of Turkey) and MLSPB (Marxist-Leninist Armed
Propaganda Unit) Trials access to the kitchen, bathroom and other
facilities they needed to work in or use, saying that "these are our
places". When objections were raised, they tossed around threats using
words like "You already don't call us revolutionaries anyway, so we are not
revolutionaries, if need be we will kill you or die." Despite being told
that this was doing the enemy's work and that they were behaving like
enemies, their only answers were "This is our place, if we wish it, you
can't use it," "I behave as I like." Discussions went on connected with
this issue aimed at resolving it but they deliberately brought the
discussion to a dead end and the revolutionary prisoners continued to be
harassed. After these developments, on January 20, 2000, at 10 pm, PKK
prisoners suddenly attacked eight revolutionary women prisoners who were in
the kitchen area. This attack was not a sudden decision nor was it the
impulsive behaviour of a few individuals, but was planned and organised in
advance. During the attack PKK prisoners took control of the doors in the
sleeping area, the exercise area and the ventilation room at the same time
the attack was being carried out. In short, an operation was carried out
against the revolutionaries.
On being attacked, the revolutionaries naturally met their attackers with
the slogan "Down with Fascism!" To confront the dozens of PKK supporters,
there were just eight revolutionaries but they tried to stop the initial
attack. After the attack starting at 10, the PKK people collecting in the
area decided to mount a second attack, thinking it necessary to teach the
revolutionaries a "lesson", so they attacked again at 1 in the morning.
This time the attack was more systematic. First they started to hit our
comrade who returned to the dining area from the ward they used pieces of
iron and planks. At the same moment the attack on three women prisoners
from the TKP-ML, three from the TIKB and one from the MLSPB continued amid
a torrent of swear-words and insults in the ward. They hit the
revolutionaries who were trying to resist, and then snatched them and threw
them out of the ward. Thinking this was not enough, they set up a barricade
at the door to prevent the revolutionary prisoners getting back in.
The public prosecutor of the prison and other officials were obviously told
the news about the attack by PKK prisoners on revolutionaries in advance
and they watched the attack with glee. Our friends had been thrown to the
enemy but in the face of the attack they showed the necessary attitude.
However, despite a promise being made that a new ward would be found for
our friends, the PKK and the administration, who were cooperating with each
other, forgot the promise and they began to make new threats of exile. Both
the PKK and the administration continued to issue threats and engage in
harassment. Since the days of internal visits and visits by families or
going to the infirmary were the same for revolutionaries and the PKK, when
our friends encountered the PKK the latter did their best to issue insults
and threats. The administration rejected a suggestion by the
revolutionaries that the days be changed, thus paving the way for a new
attack. Moreover every effort was made to cover up developments by
preventing our friends sending letters and faxes. "We'll get you in an
operation," "We will do here what was done in Ulucanlar" were the threats
revolutionary prisoners stood up to, and in the end they were put in a
different ward on January 27.

WE WARN THE PKK PRISONERS!
It is a known fact that you stated in a declaration from the highest level
that you are at the disposal of fascism, which you call the "Democratic
Republic". If you think that you will do this service by attacking
revolutionaries, your calculations are wrong.
You know that our comrades who were attacked by the fascist killers at
Ulucanlar not long before had still not received proper treatment for the
injuries they received. In Ulucanlar those who attacked our friends had the
identity of fascist killers and those who resisted had the identity of
revolutionaries. However, in Nevsehir, those who attacked our very same
friends must declare their identity, realise the situation that they are in
and give a self-criticism for this attack.
If you do not want to share the same living space as the revolutionary
prisoners who broke the control of the enemy at the sacrifice of their own
blood and lives, the solution is obvious and known. If you do not want
living spaces where you are "bothered", then separate your wards, thus
making your difference from us more clear. Because up to the present the
revolutionaries have always put up resistance and clashed and they will
continue to do so.

ATTACKING THE REVOLUTIONARIES IS AN ADMISSION OF WEAKNESS! As is known, the
PKK prisoners, especially since the start of the 1990s, have preferred to
keep their distance from the resistance the revolutionary prisoners waged
with their own blood and lives. They did not take part in any of the
resistance, and they also claimed that it had negative effects on them and
so they tried to prevent resistance. Of course in the face of all these
approaches, the revolutionaries persistently explained the truth. However,
after the Imrali period they have been surrendering, and they even
demanded that the resistance of revolutionaries should end, otherwise they
would "intervene". This is actually the style of the PKK. It is nothing
other than a political ban by the PKK and an attempt to force other
organisations to accept their line. According to this they do not want any
other force to engage in an independent ideology. Everyone must become
dependent on them. This is the kind of mentality that, even during the
times when hundreds of prisoners were resisting at all costs, will call for
an end to a resistance in which they themselves play no part. We took a
cold-blooded attitude to this, and on various platforms we tried to explain
to them the negative nature of the attitude they take. But their attitude
did not change. More recently they announced where they stand: while
revolutionaries were being massacred in Ulucanlar, they said to the officer
in charge, "We aren't involved, major sir." While revolutionaries were
being massacred with the most brutal methods of torture, lasting for hours,
in the same vicinity, they looked on in corrupt and silent indifference
while being held in the bloody arms of their "major". And finally they
attacked our comrades who had been injured in Ulucanlar and transferred to
Nevsehir Prison on January 20 and 21. During the Nevsehir attack the PKK
supporters confessed the real reason for their attack by saying, "How can
you criticise the process we are going through," etc. Such a mentality
which attacks the revolutionaries with hatred for criticising their
surrender and showing the true path is capable of performing any service of
benefit to fascism and is capable of winning fascism's trust. What kind of
spirit, understanding and culture is capable of attacking revolutionaries
only a short time after they were hurt in the Ulucanlar massacre.?
Surrendering has made them blind. Those who become so low as to say
yesterday, "We aren't involved, major sir", today are hatefully attacking
revolutionaries. It must be known that no force or attacks can legitimise
surrendering on the soil of our land. Revolutionaries will continue their
uncompromising ideological struggle against those who worship surrender in
the same way they resisted to the death the massacres and attacks by
imperialism. This is made necessary by revolutionary duty and revolutionary
standards.
If those who cannot reply to the ideological struggle by revolutionaries
against surrender think that they can prevent us by launching attacks, they
are wrong. This is a sign of weakness.
All revolutionaries, democrats and patriots must show an attitude to such
weakness and in all areas raise the ideological struggle against surrender.
