Everyone who lives and has an interest in the history of our country
remembers the date March 30, 1972. On that day in Kizildere village, Tokat,
the leader of the TURKIYE HALK KURTULUS PARTISI-CEPHESI (THKP-C), (PEOPLE'S
LIBERATION PARTY-FRONT OF TURKEY), MAHIR CAYAN, and his NINE comrades were
massacred.
MAHIR CAYAN and his friends said that "Turkey is not independent. It is
under the rule of American imperialism. There is no democracy in this
country, it is ruled by fascism. Except for a bunch of exploiters, no-one
has rights and liberties." They said, "There is no other way than to engage
in armed struggle against the present collaborationist regime, for an
independent, democratic and socialist country." Since 1970, they had
started to put their thoughts into practice. A new era began in Turkey.
>From then on, there were revolutionary forces against imperialism and
fascism. There were those who demanded independence and democracy. When the
first weapon was fired, it shook almost everyone. The hegemonic powers,
together with imperialism, responded with all their destructive capability
in order to wipe out this armed movement, since there was almost no serious
opposition to their exploitation and tyranny. The status quo of the left
front, which had been accustomed to act as a loyal opposition to the
hegemonic powers over a 50-year period, was now being disturbed. They also,
together with the collaborationist authorities, began to attack us, calling
us "anarchists", "terrorists" and "agents". All the defenders of the system
formed a counter-revolutionary front in opposition to the revolutionary
front. All these internal and external attacks could not divert the TURKIYE
HALK KURTULUS PARTISI-CEPHESI from its path of independence, democracy and
socialism. From now on there was the TURKIYE HALK KURTULUS PARTISI-CEPHESI
which demanded that Turkey should be independent and socialist. The youth
and various sections and classes of the people in particular were
influenced by this movement. The attacks on it escalated in proportion to
the growth of this movement's influence.
The TURKIYE HALK KURTULUS PARTISI-CEPHESI was the representative of a new
idea, a new lifestyle and a new morality. MAHIR CAYAN and his comrades
kidnapped three English agents in Unye and took them to Kizildere after the
collaborationist powers brought the execution of the leaders of the TURKIYE
HALK KURTULUS ORDUSU (PEOPLE'S LIBERATION ARMY OF TURKEY), DENIZ GEZMIS,
HUSEYIN INAN and YUSUF ASLAN onto the agenda. So MAHIR CAYAN physically
created the revolutionary front. They were surrounded. They were the first
of their kind. They were the vanguard in the history of revolutionary
struggle. Even at the cost of their lives, they had to make sure that the
seeds of these new beliefs, lifestyle and morality would be planted in such
a way that no-one could destroy them. They had to ensure the continuity of
the struggle. Their response to the calls to "Give yourselves up!" was that
revolutionaries never surrender. MAHIR CAYAN and his NINE friends;
Sabahattin KURT, Nihat YILMAZ, Saffet ALP, Sinan Kazim OZUDOGRU, Ertan
SARUHAN, Hudai ARIKAN, Ahmet ATASOY, Omer AYNA and Cihan ALPTEKIN were
killed. The determination of the people of Turkey was shown once again to
the authorities who had refused to reach a compromise, and the three
English agents were punished.
The leader and leading cadres of the TURKIYE HALK KURTULUS PARTISI were
killed, and the organisation was physically destroyed, it appeared that
imperialism and the oligarchy had won. The oligarchy thought that there
were no more obstacles in the path of their regime. The oligarchy and
almost all elements which appeared to be part of the left front chattered
emptily that there would never be an armed revolutionary movement again,
and condemned the defenders of armed struggle. Those who have no idea about
the world, Turkey, the people of Turkey and revolution cannot see the
future. They could not understand KIZILDERE.
The new beliefs, lifestyle and morality in KIZILDERE spread all over
Turkey. The TURKIYE HALK KURTULUS PARTISI-CEPHESI did not exist as an
organisation. But hundreds of thousands of people, the youth, workers and
peasants sympathised with these new beliefs. The TURKIYE HALK KURTULUS
PARTISI-CEPHESI did not disappear, on the contrary, it was only just
beginning.
KIZILDERE was not the end, it was the beginning. For the first time, the
seeds of revolution were planted in the soil of Turkey. The youth took the
heritage of MAHIR'S behaviour in KIZILDERE as their own. The flag was never
furled and the march was continued.
In order to stop this march, a front of aggression was established under
the direct and indirect control of the oligarchy. They attacked from all
directions. The PARTI-CEPHE (PARTY-FRONT), since its inception in 1970, was
the target of all these attacks, because with its ideology it disturbed the
status quo of all elements of the regime. New ideas cannot make themselves
accepted without a clash and without destroying the old ideas. The
revolution could be developed by fighting at every level against the old
ideas. This is what happened. Neither the attacks by the oligarchy nor by
others who served the system with a left-wing appearance could divert them
from their path.
APRIL 16-17, 1992
Of course, reaching this date did not happen suddenly. But this date has a
significance in the history of the PARTI-CEPHE and the revolutionary
history of Turkey. On March 30, 1972, the oligarchy said that they had
destroyed the revolutionary movement by killing the leading cadres,
including the leader of the PARTI-CEPHE, MAHIR. On the other hand, by APRIL
17, 1992, imperialism had caused the collapse of the Socialist Bloc, Turkey
had experienced the junta of September 12, 1980, the revolutionary rank and
file and the masses were unbelieving and the idea that "socialism can never
exist again" was being propagated. Under these circumstances, there would
be no action more important than showing again to the peoples of Turkey and
the world that socialism is not dead, it continues to live on in the spirit
of KIZILDERE, it lives on with its beliefs, morality and lifestyle. On
APRIL 16-17, 1992, the flag of socialism was unfurled in the besieged base
at CIFTEHAVUZLAR, ISTANBUL and it was shown to the entire world that the
spirit of KIZILDERE lives on. When one of the DEVRIMCI SOL leaders SABAHAT
KARATAS, and DEVRIMCI SOL members EDA YUKSEL and TASKIN USTA were martyred,
all the people's forces witnessed that their beliefs and morality live on
and the revolution could not be destroyed. The oligarchy was defeated once
again. While the enemy said, "we won," and "we have destroyed them," they
had enabled a moral awakening just like in KIZILDERE.
So we have mentioned these two important points in the history of the
revolutionary movement � MARCH 30, 1972 and APRIL 17, 1992. These two dates
cannot be forgotten in the history of the revolutionary struggle in Turkey.
These dates influenced almost everyone from the bourgeoisie to the left and
caused them to evaluate them.
Between 1970 and 2000, for 30 years unforgettable epics of resistance were
created and became part of the revolutionary history of the world. The
creators of these resistance epics are the new beliefs, morality and
lifestyle in KIZILDERE. This concept is so powerful that the hegemonic
powers and several sections of the left are far from being able to analyse
the source of this power. It more strongly reappeared at the moment when
they said "we have destroyed them," and it placed itself on the agenda. So
that almost all the forces of the regime and the left could not discuss any
subject without discussing the beliefs, traditions and lifestyle of the
PARTI-CEPHE. The beliefs of the PARTI-CEPHE became the nightmare of the
entire forces of the regime. They could not understand the PARTI-CEPHE
since they did not understand the land of Turkey. They could not understand
MAHIR. And they reached a situation where they have no idea about what to
do, how and where to do it. Neither the destruction nor repression could
change this reality. For them the PARTI-CEPHE is always a mystery, an epic
and a movement of which no-one can predict where, when and what it will do
next. Their fear is so great that they are looking for an answer to the
question, "What would have happened if MAHIR had survived?" and are trying
to neutralise their own fear in this way. They want to hide the fact that
there are tens of thousands of MAHIRS.
MARCH 30, 1994
THE DEVRIMCI HALK KURTULUS PARTISI-CEPHESI IS 6 YEARS OLD
The oligarchy and imperialism could not destroy DEVRIMCI SOL by organising
massacres on MARCH 30, 1972, JULY 12, 1991, APRIL 16-17, 1992 and many
other dates, and killing hundreds of our comrades. DEVRIMCI SOL responded
to each massacre with resistance, it grew and developed. The decision to
establish the Party was taken. This time, the oligarchy and imperialism
carried out a MUTINY by encouraging and supporting some traitors in our
ranks. The aim was to prevent the development of the PARTI-CEPHE, to divide
it and to render it ineffective. This mutineer-contra movement was
supported by the oligarchy, imperialism, the Kurdish nationalists and some
of the left-wing movements. The aim was the same; to destroy the
PARTI-CEPHE regardless of the cost. While for the oligarchy and
imperialism, the greatest obstacle in the path of their regime would be
removed; for the Kurdish nationalists it would mean the way would be
cleared towards a "peace" brokered by US imperialism. The opportunist left,
on the other hand, was hoping that the destruction of the PARTI-CEPHE would
also remove the obstacles to their own development. Therefore they all
supported the mutinous traitors to the best of their ability.
The answer to imperialism, the oligarchy and their supporters was given
with the foundation of the DEVRIMCI HALK KURTULUS PARTISI-CEPHESI on MARCH
30, 1994.
The mutinous traitors disappeared. Even the Kurdish nationalists, the main
source of support for these traitors, denied their existence. The left that
supported these traitors could not even come up with a single sentence to
explain their behaviour when the time to draw up a balance sheet came, and
they wrote their names in history as movements which can even cooperate
with imperialism and the oligarchy to divide and destroy another movement.
The DEVRIMCI HALK KURTULUS PARTISI-CEPHESI, on the other hand, lives on.
TO ALL FORCES IN FAVOUR OF INDEPENDENCE AND DEMOCRACY
TO ALL PATRIOTS
During the entire history of the Republic, our country has never been so
completely under the sway of imperialism as it is now. None of the
governments were so servile as now. Nothing is outside the control of
imperialism. Whatever belongs to our country and people is given into the
hands of imperialism. The imperialists have started to determine our
culture, our morality and our lifestyle.
When we talk about independence, they say "it is unfashionable". Instead of
independence they want to implement the hegemony of the imperialist
monopolies.
When we talk about democracy, all they understand is the monopolies'
democracy. They say, "everything is for the freedom of the monopolies." As
far as they are concerned, the people and the homeland are only tools for
the hegemony and freedom of the monopolies.
If this country, this land belongs to us, if we are the people; we cannot
stop demanding independence and democracy and a socialist regime simply for
the sake of the monopolies' freedom to exploit and plunder. To be a patriot
and to stand by our people means to oppose imperialism and its
collaborators' plans to make our country a "miniature USA". Those who do
not oppose these plans are continuing to commit the crime of treason.
In order to destroy the struggle for independence and democracy in our
country, the imperialists and the collaborationist oligarchy are trying to
make our people accept imperialist rule via so-called American and European
democracy. All the means of communication are used for this purpose. The
repression and tyranny are for this purpose. We cannot surrender to this.
Since revolutionaries are the only force that opposes imperialist beliefs
and lifestyle, they are trying to destroy and intimidate revolutionaries
and by manipulating consciousness, they are trying to remove the obstacles
from their own paths.
As the forces of the PARTI�CEPHE, we have been talking about independence
and democracy for 30 years. We say that without the destruction of the rule
of imperialism and the oligarchy, democracy cannot be established in our
country. We continue to stress it. Because the collaborationist regimes
have continued to collaborate with imperialism, imperialist exploitation
and tyranny have increased more and more and even the remnants of democracy
have been rendered null and void. It is clear that neither American nor
European democracy can solve our problems.
If we demand independence and democracy there is no other way but to wage
an armed struggle against the regime. Those who claim the opposite are,
whether intentionally or not, serving the rule of imperialism and its
collaborators.
The place of those who are in favour of independence and democracy is in
the revolutionary front, the DEVRIMCI HALK KURTULUS PARTISI-CEPHESI.
The path of the DEVRIMCI HALK KURTULUS PARTISI-CEPHESI is the path of MAHIR
CAYAN.
While remembering hundreds of our comrades who sacrificed their lives for
independence, democracy and socialism, we call upon all forces which are in
favour of the people to unite in the revolutionary front. The only
alternative to rule by repressive and tyrannical collaborators of
imperialism is the DEVRIMCI HALK KURTULUS PARTISI-CEPHESI.
