The Director of the Cuban daily Juventud Rebelde, Rogelio Polanco ratified the above described position of Cuba and read the following official statement of the Cuban Government. " I am authorized to inform, that facing the request by the Pro tempore Secretary of the XI IberoAmerican Summit, that Cuba agreed to sign a joint declaration about the events that occurred in the United States of America, the Government of Cuba has transmitted the following reply: We coincide in that the terrorist acts done in the United States are inhuman and execrable, we have not hesitated in fully giving our solidarity with the American people facing the brutal and unjustifiable crime of which is has become an innocent victim. We have publicly and immediately conveyed our condolences and our sincere and total support, we prefer to do it, and that's what we have done, with our own words and by ourselves. Having complied with our moral and in solidarity duty with the American people, signing the document that is proposed by the IberoAmerican group, where there are nations that have refused to condemn the execrable terrorist acts done against our nations for more than forty years,would not be desirable nor honorable for Cuba to do so. And the Official Statement of the Cuban Government ends by saying: As a matter of honor and of principles we request, for the above mentioned reasons, that we will be excused from including the signature of Cuba in the proposed declaration Finally Randy Alonso de Chairman of the Panel highlighted that war seems to be the bet of the Washington government to solve the conflict that began after the events of September 11th. But Alonso alerted that there is still a possible solution, as the Government of the Republic of Cuba has affirmed, because reason, negotiated solution and true international cooperation have to be the option of a humanity that today is seeing its own existence menaced by war, hunger and diseases. The Round Table broadcast of this Thursday became a message of peace facing the possibility that the pain of the American people be turned into revenge and it called the attention about the meeting of the Islamic Council that requested to the United States of America that irrefutable evidences against the Saudi leader Osama Bin Laden be presented. The Ulemas, had requested Bin Laden to abandon the country, while they reclaimed patience to the American government before declaring war. It was also informed that the White House had rejected the request of the Afghan religious leaders when it affirmed that this was not a moment for negotiations. Meanwhile , in New York, and according to reports by the international news agencies,the search for survivors continues as well as the movement of tons of debris. The members of the panel made reference to the critical economic panorama that the United States of America is having to face, with increasing unemployment , an increase in violence and hate against the immigrants, as well as an increase in the number of people detained following new investigations, clues and findings.
