Withdrawal of U.S. troops urged
Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- Papers here today denounce U.S.
President Bush for clamouring for permanent presence of the U.S. troops in
South Korea and "strengthened security alliance" at a press conference some
time ago. Rodong Sinmun in a signed commentary titled "powder-reeking
outburst" says:
Bush's remarks compel the DPRK to keep a sharp vigilance against the
U.S.
The U.S. troops stationed in South Korea are the stumbling-block to the
reunification of Korea and a detached force for aggression on Korea.
His clamour for the permanent presence of the U.S. troops in South Korea
is a clear expression of the U.S. policy of aggression against the DPRK, the
policy aimed at stifling it by force of arms at any cost.
The U.S. troops' occupation of South Korea can never be permitted in
light of the trend of the times and the desire of the Korean people for the
independent reunification of Korea.
The U.S. bid to strengthen the "security alliance" with South Korea is
aiming at gaining military edge over the DPRK and stifling it by force of
arms.
The U.S. is working hard to maintain its hegemonic position in the
Asia-Pacific region by strengthening its military presence in South Korea
and its policy of aggression against Korea.
The Korean peninsula can never be a theatre for the U.S. hegemony.
The U.S. persistent hostile policy toward the DPRK, designed to make the
Korean peninsula a military springboard for continental aggression and a
bargaining chip for its hegemony, arouses deep-felt resentment of the Korean
people. The Korean people are fully ready to cope with possible military
challenge of the U.S.
The U.S. is openly talking about the possibility to extend its military
operations in Afghanistan to other countries, while resorting to ill-boding
moves pulling up the DPRK.
It is our will and independent mode of counteraction to respond to the
U.S. hard line with a super hard line.
Minju Joson in a commentary titled "decision to withdraw U.S. troops
should be made" says that the U.S. should not seek its permanent military
presence in South Korea, but take a practical measure to withdraw its troops
from South Korea at an early date.

Russian ambassador gives reception
Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- Russian ambassador to the DPRK Andrei
Karlov gave a reception at the embassy yesterday on the occasion of leader
Kim Jong Il's successful visit to the Russian Federation. Invited there were
premier of the DPRK cabinet Hong Song Nam, minister of the People's Armed
Forces Kim Il Chol, member of the DPRK National Defence Commission Yon Hyong
Muk, secretaries of the c.c., the Workers' Party of Korea Kim Kuk Thae and
Jong Ha Chol and other officials concerned.
Andrei Karlov in his speech said that the historic meeting between
Russian President V.V. Putin and DPRK NDC chairman Kim Jong Il is of great
significance and the Moscow summit talks and the Russia-DPRK Moscow
declaration laid foundations to consolidate the positive trend of
Russia-DPRK state relations and further develop effective and equally
beneficial cooperation in the new millennium.
It is now important to carry out the tasks put forward by the two
leaders, he said, stressing that the complicated situation requires the
strengthened coordination of action in the international arena.
Russia is ready to cooperate in establishing a just and stable system of
international relations, he said, and continued:
Such attitude of Russia towards the international issues coincides with
the purpose and principles of the DPRK foreign policies. It is one of
important tasks to boost the relations between Russia and the DPRK as a
whole to develop economic and trade relations today.
Russia consistently holds that the tensions in the Korean peninsula
should be turned into a stable and secured peace and Korea should be
reunified independently, peacefully and in a democratic way without outside
interference on the basis of articles of the north-south joint declaration
at an early date.
Premier Hong Song Nam said in his speech that Kim Jong Il's Russia visit
held amid the special concern of Putin and warm welcome of the Russian
people was a historic event of weighty significance in developing the
traditional DPRK-Russia relations on a new foundation in conformity with
requirements of the new century and ensuring world peace and security.
His visit deepened the intimate relations of the two leaders and opened
a bright vista to rapidly develop the DPRK-Russia relations, which is a joy
and auspicious event common to the two peoples, he said, and went on:
The DPRK government and people will value the practical examples set by
the heads of state for the development of the DPRK-Russia relations and
continue to invariably develop long-standing traditional relations with
Russia on the principles of independence, equality and mutual benefit.
The DPRK government and people support the policies of the present
Russian leadership and sincerely hope that all things will go well in the
country in conformity with the aspiration and interests of the Russian
people and they will achieve success in the efforts to form a fair and
justifiable new world structure.

Speech of DPRK delegate at 56th UN General Assembly
Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- A DPRK delegate made a speech during
the discussion of item no. 86 "international cooperation in the peaceful
uses of outer space" at the fourth committee meeting of the 56th UN General
Assembly on October 22. He said that if the space is to be made peaceful one
conducive to promoting the welfare of mankind, arbitrary practices,
exclusive possession, selectivity and double standards should be rejected in
the development of the pace so that all countries can take part in that work
in an equitable and free manner.
To decisively prevent the militarization of the space and provide a
guarantee for its peaceful use at present has become a pressing issue, the
solution of which brooks no moment's delay, he said, and went on:
The United States has clamoured about "missile threat" from the DPRK to
make a pretext for the establishment of missile defense system in outer
space. Such deed can never be tolerated.
The DPRK's missile program is of totally peaceful nature and it poses no
threat to anybody.
Preventing the space militarization is a serious matter that is related
to ensuring peace in our planet and guaranteeing the future destiny of
humankind.
The U.S. should immediately stop the MD establishment that may spark off
arms race in the space. And it should discontinue such attempts as to
violate developing countries' right to independent space development while
raising an unreasonable and far-fetched theory.
The DPRK delegation holds that the legal committee of the committee on
the peaceful uses of outer space should pay deep attention to taking
measures for the prevention of space militarization.
The DPRK will further accelerate its space development for the nation's
economic progress and strive to promote technical cooperation and exchange
with other countries, he concluded.

S. Korean students protest educational policy
Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- Over 10,000 students of universities of
education across South Korea held a rally protesting the authorities' unjust
policy of education in front of the Sejong Cultural Centre on Saturday,
according to MBC from Seoul. The ralliers called for preventing education
from turning into a market, asserting that educational institutions are
being turned into a boundlessly competitive market due to the 7th school
course enforced by the authorities.
Earlier, students of 11 universities of education vowed to stay away
from classes for an indefinite period in the wake of their two school
strikes on October 11 and 16, Yonhap News reported.

Japanese prime minister's foolish act condemned
Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- The Japanese prime minister said during
his recent visit to South Korea that his visit to the "Yasukuni Shrine" in
August was to "revere the memory of war victims" and harden "no war
resolution." His remarks are a lame sophism and a mockery and insult to the
Korean people and the Asian people who suffered from the Japanese
imperialists' aggression and war in the past.
Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article.
The ruling quarters of Japan are seeking to justify the Japanese
imperialists' past war of aggression through their visit to the "Yasukuni
Shrine," the article says, and continues:
They are praising the war criminals as "those who laid down their lives
for the country" so as to mitigate their crimes, redeem their honour and put
them forward as "patriots" and "heroes."
The visit to the "Yasukuni Shrine" of the Japanese government chief
executive showed the official stand of the Japanese state and government
justifying the past war of aggression as a "war of justice."
The Japanese prime minister expressed his "respects from the bottom of
his heart" to Tojo at the "Yasukuni Shrine."
This indicates that he sympathizes with the idea and action of Tojo who
was engaged in massacre and destruction to realize the ambition for "Greater
East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere." at the shrine he hardened his resolution to
realize Tojo's plan for "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere," not "no
war resolution."
If one fails to draw a proper lesson from history, one will go a wrong
way. Following the predecessors' road of aggression will lead Japan to a
greater ruin.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meari Company
Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- The Meari Sound Equipment Company of
the DPRK is a famous leading producer of sound equipment in its country. It
is located at the mouth of Thongil Street, Pyongyang, covering a total floor
space of 11,700 square meters.
The company has registered many successes in the production in ten
years: It was awarded tens of international and national patent rights and
certificates of invention.
It has developed electric condenser mikes 319m ala7, b1b4, c1c3 and
d1d3, dynamic mikes 319m cd1 and cd2 and various kinds of mixing consoler,
loudspeakers and magnifiers.
The mikes produced by the company were awarded several gold and silver
prizes at the Geneva international invention salons.
The sound equipment of the company attracted many visitors at the
international exposition of broadcasting equipment held twice in Japan and
exhibitions held in china.
The Meari Sound Equipment Company has sales dealings with many
countries.

DPRK delegation leaves to participate in 31st FAO conference
Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- A DPRK delegation headed by minister of
agriculture Kim Chang Sik left here today by air to participate in the 31st
conference of the food and agriculture organization of the united nations to
be held in Italy.

Greetings to foreign minister of Syria
Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- Paek Nam Sun, foreign minister of the
DPRK, sent a message of greetings to Farouq al Shara, minister of foreign
affairs of Syria. The message extended warm congratulations to him and,
through him, to the government and people of friendly Syria on its election
as nonpermanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
It said that the Syrian Arab Republic got landslide votes in the
election, which is the due appreciation of the Syrian Arab people's just
cause of defending global peace and security and their national cause.
Convinced that the bonds of traditional friendship and solidarity
between the two countries would further strengthen in the future, it
sincerely wished him greater success in his responsible work.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

KEDO delegation arrives
Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- A KEDO delegation arrived by air today
to participate in the DPRK-KEDO high-level experts' negotiations for
implementing the agreement on provision of light water reactors.

U.S. groundless mud-slinging at DPRK slammed
Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign
Ministry today answered a question raised by KCNA as regards the U.S.
groundless mud-slinging at the DPRK over the religious issue. Recently the
U.S. in an "annual report on international religious freedom" charged that
the DPRK and some other countries are acting in contravention of its "law on
religious freedom."
This is an imprudent and outrageous act of trampling down even the
elementary principle of the international law.
The U.S. is saying this or that of other countries by invoking its own
law as if it were a judge of religious issues.
Before being so ridiculous, the U.S. had better admit and apologize for
its forces' acts of destroying all religious buildings including churches
with large crosses in our country and brutally killing many Korean
religionists during the Korean War.
According to press reports, persecution of Muslims is daily getting
pronounced in the U.S. following the attacks on it and many Muslims are
killed by the U.S. forces' bombing in Afghanistan at this moment and,
consequently, the very destiny of Islam is threatened by the U.S.
It is self-evident, therefore, that the U.S. is not in a position to
admonish other countries over the religious issue.
The freedom of religion is fully guaranteed by law and many religionists
are free to conduct their activities under our best socialist system.
The DPRK will further consolidate and develop people-centered socialism
of its own style no matter what others may say.

catastrofica.
