Right now I'm playing with LFS. So I have a partition on to which I'm
compiling everything, and then I'll (eventually) reboot on to that 
new partition.

At the moment, compiling the kernel is towards the end of the process.
If I were trying this on a BSD box, I presume it would come towards the
beginning of the proces...
