True, but we haven't been able to do "what we want" with home bandwidth
(less than ~$50-75 per month) for years and years now.

True, but if you're going to run a server, do you want DSL that might be
down for a couple of days (no uptime guarantee, get your $14.95 refunded
for that month), or trying to get past a script-reading drone who
insists that you provide the output of some Windows control panel when
you can see plaina s day that your cable modem has lost synch?
