Probably not, it would be an economic disaster.

Well, (a) the internet is getting more and more important, and (b) recent
events in the real world are casting doubts regarding our continued good
will towards everyone else.

Imagine if Iran were in control (and hadn't yet done anything different
from what we're doing).  What would *we* be trying to do?
