May I ask: what desktop system do you use, and what are your favorite
browser, email app, media player, office software? What other apps do you use
every single day? (Shouldn't be that long of a list.)

I have 2 boxes- my gaming system, which I only use for gaming. XP (because 2K couldn't handle my new SATA disk, and I had an in to get it legal for the price of dinner) and various games. I'd use Linux if games came natively for that. I'd even pay a premium for the games. Oh, and a program named Poker Tracker (it keeps track of online poker stats). Pretty sweet program actually. Zone Alarm and anti-virus in the background, and AdAware/Spybot once in a while just to check.

My real box: Mandrake (although when I put together the parts I have lieing around, I'm going to give Debian a whirl), KDE (although when I build the new box, I'm going to give some lower eye candy ones a whirl as well), BASH, Konsole (I really liked the tabbed shells, although I'd prefer the tabs to be at the top), Mozilla Suite (not Firefox), xemacs, gcc. Email is mainly webmail, for convenience. I don't think I've used an office suite in years, last time I did was Open Office. Don't see much of a point to them really- if I want to text edit, I have xemacs, I've never used power point or a spreadsheet in my life. Xmms for my mp3s. I don't tend to watch videos on my computer, I have TV for that. A couple of free games. I spend most of my computer time gaming, browsing, or programming, so I don't use many other programs.
